What you will probably be using here is the Import video feature. You may use the import pictures if you will be using stills. You will definitely be using the import audio or music. One thing you will notice is that WMM generally does not accept MPEG2 video clips, unless you have an MPEG2 codec installed on your computer. I have not experimented with the free codecs you can download, so I don't know if any of them work. 4:3 vs 16:9: If you are using ripped clips that are in 16:9, WMM has settings that allow you to render the vid in the original aspect ratio rather than having the clips stretched in the vertical. To do this, all clips have to be originally 16:9. If you have a mixed aspect ratio project, the 4:3 clips will be squished in the vertical. If you have a mixed ratio project, I recommend using Vdub (see the Ripping link above) to crop one set of clips or the other as distorted frames can be distracting. Click: Tools - Options - Advanced tab and select your "Video Properties" Now that you've got all your files imported, you're ready for the next step. Just hit the save project diskette. It's very important to save often in vidding projects. Just trust me on this one. |
