This one has a few more steps than Picture in Picture and Split Screen Using Full Frame Clips . The first thing to do is to place the clips you want to use on the main track. Trim them down to the parts of the clips you want to use. Once you have done that go to the "Event pan/crop" and resize the clip for the parts you want to use. The image below shows how to accomplish this.  If your subject moves across the screen, you will want to use markers to keep the subject in the center of the viewing window. At this point you may want to restrict the resized window movement to horizontal only to reduce the chances of introducing vertical jitter. Once you have the clips you want to use resized, place them close to each other, but not touching, and render into high quality MPEG2 or AVI. You can then reimport them into the project. For Vegas 6 (and possibly 5), you can render right to the timeline, bypassing part of this step. After the new clips are reimported and separated, with all the excess black space taken out, you can reposition them as shown below.  At this point, your project will not look like true split screen. There is one last step to get the image show in the preview screen above.  Once you have selected the "Add" composting mode for both clips, you should have the split screen picture shown above. You will want to ensure the clips don't cross into each other as you will get some rather strange color results. That's it. You should now have a full screen split screen effect |
